this is my blog's alter ego. I tumbl quotes, graphs, science-y things, and quite a lot of harry potter/doctor who/etc/etc. Sometimes I also pin, and tweet, and find crafty things to do.

“The world’s beauty is in soap bubbles, little specks of dust, galaxy shards, tiny things swept under the rugs that we stomp on day after day because we’re too busy to notice small treasures...The busy ghost presses his hands into my back and pushes me one way or the other to do this or that. I want to stop to see, to think, to breathe. I want to put my ear to the soil and listen for the ants. I want to daydream, fly a kite, run my hands through thick, green grass...” (Ophelia Blooming)

How Far Is Too Far When A Teacher Shares Personal Information With Their Students? | BlogHer →

lhuddles:

robot-heart-politics:

Outraged Mom is scandalized because her son’s teacher told her middle school students that she was a lesbian after vicious rumors started flying about her personal life. As far as I can tell, the teacher didn’t go into any sort of details about her sex life or anything that would be even remotely out of bounds for a straight person to talk about, but Outraged Mom of course is forced to ask—isn’t putting a picture of your lesbian lover on your desk at school pretty much the same thing as talking sexual positions with 12-year-olds?

It’s perfectly okay to announce an engagement, to talk about your husband, or to announce a pregnancy. But mention that you’re a lady who dates ladies…WHY DON’T YOU JUST SHOW THE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS YOUR SEX TAPES, YOU IRRESPONSIBLE CREEP WITH NO JUDGMENT?!

I wish teachers were treated more like normal people. Teachers may act like machines or robots, but really, teachers are human, too.
